MARCH 2003

22nd - 29th March 2003

An action packed week even if the weather was not that great. Caught 22 carp in total which were all above 14lb the biggest of which was 29lb a truly superb fish which I'm sure had never been caught before. Enjoyed some excellent pike & zander fishing and even caught a few tench all of which were in superb condition. Great value for money and more than adequate facilities.

APRIL 2003

5th - 12th April 2003

Our very first visit over to France and after much consideration on choice of venue we choose Etang des Palluau one of two lakes own and run by Fred & Peter of Carp Hunters Abroad. We choose this lake rather than Etang des Mearult because we were very keen to catch other types of fish other than big carp. Well Etang des Palluau did not disappointed us as we caught Pike, zander, perch, tench and plenty of carp as well. The carp ranged from 3lb to 20lb and we caught loads but what we did not expect to catch considering our light weight tackle was a 35lb grass carp! plus two big mirror carp of 22lb and 28lb.09oz which was a new personal best for me.

19th - 26th April 2003

A great week spent on Etang des Palluau catching loads of fish and soaking up the sun. Plenty of places of Interest with the town of Tours only being about an hours drive away. Fished mostly at nights with plenty of action In fact it's pretty much no-stop all during the night. Caught over 750lb of fish which included carp to 28lb but most between 10lb - 19lb also had some beautiful tench to just under 10lb. Facilities are more than adequate and this lake is very good value for money. Looking forward to our trip over again next year.

MAY 2003

10th - 17th May 2003

This week saw the visit over of Jezz, wife Gillian & Graham King who we understand had a good weeks fishing with plenty of carp up to 15lb. They also fished for a second week on our other lake Etang des Mearult where they caught carp to 17lb. A little unlucky with size of fish caught but not quantity.

Just a few lines to let you know how we ended up. We caught another 18 carp from when we last saw you on Wednesday, through to the Saturday morning. Biggest went 23lb so we had 4 twenty's in total with 17 carp between 13lb and 19lb. Really had a great time and we will hopefully be back next year all going well with the other half.

JUNE 2003

1st - 7th June 2003

This week saw the visit over of James & Warren from Norwich in Norfolk. Between the two of them over 200 fish were caught in what can only be described as a very busy arm breaking week on this superb lake. Thanks for your visit over lads and hopefully look forward to meeting you again next year on Etang des Mearult.

21st - 28th June 2003

Arrived a day late due to car breaking down on route but on opening the gates to this lake and meeting Fred & Peter the owners all was forgotten. Facilities and the lake itself are more than good value for money so we were well please with our choice for this year. We caught 31 carp with the biggest being 32lb along with five 20's also had some superb conditioned tench, roach, zander.

JULY 2003

12th July 2003

First time over for us in France but must say well worth a visit if you want some serious rod bending action. Not really out and out carp anglers just your average coarse anglers but never the less we did manage to catch carp up to 28lb. In total between the 3 of us we managed 26 carp ranging from 10lb to the biggest of the week 28lb.

Next over saw the visit of a party of 6 from Wolverhampton Ronnie and company who we understand enjoyed another action packed week but unfortunately nothing of any great size. Thanks for your visit over and trust you had a safe journey home.

19th July - 2nd August 2003

Excellent facilities fantastic setting and very serious heat did not drop below the ton in the fortnight that we were here. To be honest we never kept a note of what we caught as after the third day we lost count due to the almost non stop action. Biggest fish of our stay was an impressive 38lb.9oz catfish followed closely by a carp of 37lb.2oz with about a dozen 20's up to 29lb. This lake it's fish and facilities and surrounding countryside can not come more highly recommended, really was first class.

AUGUST 2003

9th - 16th August

A superb little lake with excellent facilities and great fishing. We have been coming to France for over five years now and this is the first time we have fished our own private lake, normally we fish the river systems and larger commercial lakes so this was some what of a first for us. We caught 53 carp during the week with most of the action coming during the night, 18 tench, 9 pike and 12 zander to just under 10lb. Most of the carp were between 12lb - 18lb but we did have a few 20's, biggest 28lb.09.

All in all a much recommended venue and great host's in Fred & Peter.....Best wishes Paul, Pete and Liam from Derby.

30th August 2003

Weather extremely hot even during the night time thanks god for that big willow tree as we spend most of the week under it!. Only my husband Terry and son Rob fished while I did the cooking in between the sun bathing of course. Between the two of them they caught 80lb of small commons and mirrors between 2lb & 3lb with the match rods, 22 carp between 8lb and 20lb, 4 carp of 20lb and over. A new personal best for Rob a 37lb grass carp was the icing on the cake although I'm sure his dad would have rather caught it!!. Had a wonderful week and will most certainly be back next year but this time perhaps in early May so watch this space.

SEPTEMBER 2003

6th - 20th September 2003

After many brochures and searching of the internet we decided on this venue Etang des Palluau, and must say very pleased we did. The accommodation and facilities on this lake are more than adequate with the small caravan being ideal for the kids while Mum & Dad or should I say Mum sleeps in the small building. Loads of places of Interest and things to do nearby, there is also a great market in chateauroux on Wednesdays which is well worth a visit. My husband Steve caught 97 carp in the two weeks which we were here with the biggest being 33lb, 35lb.03, 38lb.04 the 38lb being a massive grass carp. In addition to the larger carp, some smaller one's between 2lb and 6lb were caught by all, also many tench and zander, pike, perch.

Very hot during the day but much colder at night but never stopped the fish feeding. Over 40 fish were caught between the 3 of us the best being a beautiful mirror of just under 30lb we also had four 20's to 25lb. First class facilities and great fishing with everything close to hand.

Loads of action right from the off with the best fish of the week going 32lb.11oz. Had a total of 31 carp ranging from 12lb - 19lb also great tench fishing to be had here lost count on how many but loads. Everything you need here, toilet, shower and cooking & Sleeping facilities are spot on with supermarkets and bakers all with a few miles down the road

First time over for us and would definitely came back as we had a truly superb weeks fishing. We caught 25 carp during our stay biggest going just under 30lb many doubles and a couple of 20's.

Had over 65 carp between the four of us 16 * 20lb's best fish 29lb.04oz and many low to high doubles. Overall really pleased with our choice of venue and comes thoroughly recommended.

Fish feeding in all swims with most of the action coming during the night. Wife and kid's had a great time with loads of things to do locally not that I would know as I could not bring myself to leave the bankside.
