2005

  • FEBRUARY

    19th February - 26th February 2005

Arrived mid-day after a short drive down from Le harvre, just over 4hrs and a pleasant drive down with no tolls to pay. Fishing slow to be honest as the weather did not do us no favours, very cold and even snowed Tuesday & Wednesday. Still managed to bag 18 carp between us but no cats as water temperature to low, best fish of the week was a mirror of 34lb in mint condition. The rest of the fish went between 19lb and 28lb, really enjoyed our week and were well please with all facilities and fishing and be back for another crack in the summer.

    Many thanks, Sunny and Vic......Havant.

    26th February - 5th March 2005

Weather cold and windy, facilities and host sound. The lake fished well with 24 fish between the 3 of us, biggest of the week going 45lb and being a nice plumb mirror, 3 * 30lb to 37lb.07oz and several 20's. Must be close to the best we have ever done in France for this time of the year.

Many thanks for all your help and hope to see you both again sometime.

Mark, Graham & Mitch from.....Guilford in Surrey

  • MARCH

    12th - 19th March 2005

This week on Etang des Mearult saw the visit of Graham, Allan and Ricky from High Wycombe. Best fish of the week was a 29lb mirror carp caught by Graham which made up for a slow week.

Thanks for the visit over lads and look forward to meeting you again sometime - Fred & Peter

    19th March- 2nd April 2005

Just like to say we had a wonderful 2 weeks stay and that my husband & Son thoroughly enjoyed the fishing. Caravan and facilities were more than adequate and were pleasantly surprised with the weather, as most days were glorious, although the mornings could be a little chilly. The second week was much better as the fishing seemed to improve. My Husband and Son caught a total of 47 carp between 15lb and 44lb which they were more than pleased with. The bigger fish weighed 23lb.04oz, 25lb.09oz, 26lb, 27lb.03oz, 27lb.12oz, 28lb.10oz, 28lb.13oz, 32lb, 34lb.02oz, 35lb.08lb 38lb.07oz and 44lb.11oz. As recommended by Fred & Peter we used Trigger made by Mainline Baits about 25 kilo's over the two weeks.

Goes without saying well be back again next year for sure...All the best for now love Carol, Jim and Martin.

  • APRIL

    2nd - 9th April 2005

Water Temperature a little low but fishing ok. This is our second trip on Etang de Mearult so we knew the lake reasonably well. Trigger did it again for us with swim 1 and the out-let fishing best early mornings. Managed 33 fish between us, a 45lb mint conditioned mirror being the highlight of the trip for, 9 * 20's to 29lb.09oz, 4 * 30's to 39lb.05oz and the big mirror at 45lb on the button. As usual facilities good and host Fred & Peter full of useful tips

Thanks for another memorable trip....Mick & Terry Stevens - From Crawley.

    9th - 16th April 2005

Next up saw the visit of Neil and Party who unfortunately did not experience the best of weeks due mainly to the very unsettled weather that was experienced. Did manage a dozen to 15 fish during their stay with us to mid twenties with Neil loosing a few bigger fish

Many thanks for the trip over and sorry the fish were not playing the game - Fred & Peter

    16th - 23rd April 2005

Must say had a wonderful time although the weather was a little cold at nights and first thing in the morning. Super lake and facilities, fishing patchy but Terry done well in swim 1 nearest to the caravan. Terry had the lions share with 11 cats to 39lb.03oz and 15 carp from 12lb up to 43lb.09oz which was a new personal best for him. Myself and Gary caught 16 between us between 16lb and 31lb, no cats. Most fish falling to Trigger and a fruit bait from Nash bait company. All in all a wonderful weeks fishing in delightful surroundings with superb host Fred & Peter.

Gary, Terry and Bryan - Wolverhampton

    23rd - 30th April 2005

Great fishing, although hard at times mainly due to water temperature. Enjoyed a pleasant weeks fishing in peace and tranquility with very good facilities. Managed 26 between us which included 5 over 20lb, 3 & 30lb to 38lb.09oz and a 48lb.04oz Mirror which was a new personal best for my brother Don.

Many thanks for all your help Don & Paul Stokes from Surrey

  • MAY

    30th April - 7th May 2005

Really enjoyed our much anticipated weeks break away from the rat race in England on this sound lake Etang des Mearult. Swim one and the outlet swims producing all week with most of the action coming early morning and very late afternoon. Caught around 30 fish which included 4 catfish to 27lb, best carp of the week went 34lb followed shortly after by a 32lb.08oz common. First time we have fished in France for our Holidays and both had 30's which were new personal best, just wished we had better tackle as we would have not lost some of the monsters that we connected with. All fish caught on Mistral Roship Isotonics and Trigger.

Thanks for making our stay a memorable one. best wishes Cliff & Nick - From Reading.

    7th - 14th May 2005

Only fished days, although we did do a couple of nights but found the days fished better. We fished, paired up, in swim 1 which is nearest to the caravan and during our weeks stay landed 28 carp between us with 12 going over 20lb, 1 over 30lb a nice mirror of 36lb.11oz and a monster of a grass carp which finally weighed in at 37lb.03oz. Never known carp to fight like these one's in here. We caught 90& of our fish on Trigger or NRG and a few off the top.

Thanks once again and hope to see you next year, Bill and Danny from Hertfordshire.

    14th - 21st May 2005

This week saw the visit over from Steve, Scot, Simon and Simon from Harpenden, who enjoyed a good weeks fishing catching over 30 fish between them with the highlights of the week being 5 fish over 20lb and 1 30+ fish.

Well done gents and look forward to seeing you again next year.....Fred & Peter - Carp Hunters Abroad.

    21st - 28th May 2005

This week over saw Wayne Munson and Brother Tony who between them did well considering the weather and having to leave half way through the week. Eighteen fish between them with the best fish of the week going 28lb.

Many thanks for your trip over and hopefully see you again sometime in the future, Fred & Peter - Carp Hunters Abroad.

  • JUNE

    28th May - 4th June 2005

Lake and facilities very good, weather and local attractions also very good. Lots of things to do with the water world park and Zoo a must do. Fishing improved during the week and the weeks tally ended up at 29 carp between Dave and Ian. Biggest carp of the week weighed in at an impressive 46lb.07 a new PB for Dave. Other fish included 3 * 30's to 35lb.09oz and 5 * 20's to 29lb.

Excellent venue and as Arnie said well be back, Sue, Dave and Ian.

    4th - 11th June 2005

What can I say you've got a stunning lake and fish to match. The Carp have got to be the hardest fighting I've experienced. The week was a strange one because considering how hot it was the Carp were feeding almost everyday in the afternoon and not in the evening. I finished the week with approx 35 carp between 11lb and 17lb, One 30lb mirror and One 32lb mirror and Four twenties one of which was a Grass Carp. I had a great week and will be back in the not so distant future.

    Tight Lines Gary

    11th - 18th June 2005

What a beautiful lake and super facilities more than adequate for a carp anglers needs. Fishing a little patchy and unfortunately lost a few very big lumps, did manage 23 for the week with the biggest going 38lb.06oz and in mint condition as were all of the fish caught during our stay. All of the carp caught came from swim 1 and were caught on Nash baits, pop up's working a treat tight up against the far margins. Wife thoroughly enjoyed her stay with the highlights for her being the midday meals in the local restaurant. Many thanks for all your help and advise and look forward to next year.

All the best for now.....Rob & Lynn from Wakefield.

    18th - 25th June 2005

Six catfish from 5lb to 15lb, Fifteen carp from 12lb to 19lb, Three carp from 20lb to 30lb. Only one of the above was a common of 15lb.08oz.

Great holiday all the best Graham Gratton & Martin Caldwell from Nottingham.

  • JULY

    25th June - 9th July 2005

Real great venue this one, facilities spot on and superb host's. Had a look around the local area and ended up at Aliotis, shark of 3 meters, Japanese carp, big carp, sturgeon and big cats makes for a fun day out with the Kids. We caught 135 fish between the 3 of us fishing during our 2 weeks stay. Big fish of note were 4 carp from 30lb to 39lb.05oz, 10 cats between 30lb & 50lb, loads of good 20's, upper & lower double's.

All the best for the future...Rob & Sally, Vic, Paul & Kids from Leeds.

    9th - 16th July 2005

Most enjoyable week in pleasant surroundings, caravan and cabin nice and more than adequate facilities for your average family on a carp & catfish fishing holiday in France. Fishing excellent and weather very hot, caught a total of 66 carp and cats between the two of us. Best fish of the week went to Terry which was a big Mirror of 47lb.09oz, we enjoyed others to 39lb, and cats to 49lb. The cat was caught by yours truly and ended up the biggest fish of the week which also meant it was Terry to drive home.

A really great venue and all the best for now......Peter & Terry from Christchurch

    16th - 30th July 2005

First time for us in France although we've done a bit in Holland and Belgium before. Great lake with all facilities although you do have to cook your own Egg's & Bacon first light, or is that where the wife comes in!!

A wonderful fortnight's break away from the Hustle and Bustle of the real world and so pleased with the fishing. We had over 120 fish between the two of us and the bacon sarnie's that Kim kept us supplied with. Banked 19 cats 5 * 30's...6 * 40's...2 * 50's rest 20's with the best carp of the fortnight being a superb 44lb common loads of other big carp and grass carp.

Supper lake and great host....The Clays from Romford in Essex

  • AUGUST

    31st July - 6th August 2005

The four of us arrived at the lake early afternoon only to be greeted by a massive rain storm forcing us to seek cover in our van worrying what the nest few days had in store. 20 minutes later the rain and stopped and didn't re-appear all week. Consistently warm and sunny weather and warm nights. Had an excellent week banking around 90 Carp and 25 Cats between us. Catch totals were as follows. 64 carp to 15lb, 15 carp between 15lb and 20lb, 4 Carp between 20lb and 30lb and 2 Carp over 30lb. This was a mirror of 31lb that both James and Joe caught 2 days apart. James also had a Catfish of 45lb and Joe managed to land a Catfish of 56lb on his first (relatively) serious fishing trip. Facilities were again excellent and we owe a big thank you to Peter for his exceptional hospitality and useful tips.

Thanks again and we will be in touch again to book another week at some point. Giles, James, John & Joe......Norwich

    6th - 13th August 2005

Thank you for a marvelous holiday, great time was had by all. We all had personal bests. My son caught his first fish (carp 13lb) my niece caught her first two (catfish 3lb and 4lb) we even came across your catfish with no sense of sportsmanship and the rules of fishing it almost had me in instead of the other way round and bent out my hook. Ill get it next year. Pic's of the 28lb and 27lb I caught and peter's will follow. Thanks for your time and advice while we were there see you next year

Steve, Pete, Barbara, Graham and Tammy.......High Wycombe in Bucks

    13th - 20th August 2005

A big well done this week goes to Steve Fregusson, Stephen and Nick who caught a total of 120 fish between them for the week. Biggest fish of the week was a catfish of 54lb, a couple of carp over 30lb and numerous 20's, for just over a ton and half of fish.

Well done gents and thanks for the spread sheet of your captures, look forward to seeing you again next year

Regards, Fred & Peter - Carp Hunters Abroad

    20th - 27th August 2005

The lake and facilities are just what is needed for the natural or slightly wild fishing experience, as the caravan and facilities are set slightly back form the bank. During our week the three of us managed to bank, 14 Catfish ranging from 3lb - 12lb 28 Carp Mirrors and Commons ranging from 6lb - 19lb and 3 Mirror Carp from 22lb - 27lb. There was also a couple of larger fish lost during the week, the one that got away as any good fishing holiday needs. The weather was mostly good apart from the drive down and the downpour on the Thursday, but a good time was had by all and there are plans afoot to return and catch the bigger fish of the lake.

  • SEPTEMBER

    27th August - 3rd September 2005

Despite the low water levels fishing really good, even frenetic at times. Total of 69 fish for the week mostly upper doubles but biggest fish a 51lb cat and biggest carp a 26lb mirror. Three clonking carp and two more big cats lost to hook pulls etc. which would have really finished the week off in style but it wasn't to be. All fish taken on shellfish B5 boilies and many taken on smaller baits (14mm) which were loose fed, with pva bags of pellet and boilies scoring over heavily baited areas. Fished consistently better during the day than night, with 4pm. to 11pm. the real "get the heads down" time despite the hot weather. Thanks guys for a real good weeks fishing, and especially to Peter who as always can't do enough to be helpful.

See you next year if we possibly can........Neil, Rob and Danie.

    3rd - 10th September 2005

Vic Willmot & Party - Catch report a little patchy but understand both of you broke your personal best with carp and cats to just under 30lb. Look forward to seeing you both again in March next year.

Regards, Fred & Peter - Carp Hunters Abroad

    10th - 17th September 2005

  • OCTOBER

    1st October 2005 - 8th October 2005

Just a quick one to say thanks for all your advise and hospitality, much enjoyed week. Facilities and caravan very good, just what's needed. Paul just beat me for the biggest fish of the week which was a 39lb Common carp in mint condition.
    Fine host's and all the best....Paul & Lee.....Kent.

    8th October- 22nd October 2005

Second visit for us here on Etang de Mearult, and must say nothing has changed since our last visit over in November 03. The facilities are still very good and the lake is looking great although a little lower than last time. Sue and I, along with our Son Gary, enjoyed a fantastic fortnight's carping, in total we caught 93 Carp and 22 catfish. Most notable carp of the week were: 48lb.11oz, 44lb, 38lb.03oz, 38lb.01oz, 35lb.06oz and 3 low 30's, 29lb, 29lb, 27lb.04oz, 27lb.08oz, 26lb.06oz, 26lb.03oz plus several other 20's and numerous doubles. Most notable cats of the week were: 53lb "new pb" 50lb, five 40's, eight 30's rest between 20lb and about 10lb. Can not recommend this lake highly enough, fantastic action again.

Steve & Sue and son Gary from Somerset.

    22nd October - 29th October 2005

Weather very mild much better than we have been having in England of late, our son's Liam & Darren did the fishing and we had the days out. Loads to do in the local area with good restaurant in village. Lake fished very well for Liam & Darren with both of them beating their previous biggest carp caught in the uk. Liam: 3*30's, 38lb.10oz the biggest and new PB, Darren 2*30's, 36lb.07oz the biggest and new PB.

Many thanks and see you both again next year - Charlie & Ann, Liam and Darren

  • NOVEMBER

    13th November - 20th November 2005

Great facilities, excellent fishing and worth every pennie of £575 for a weeks exclusive carp fishing on your very own lake, for us this is by far the best we've found in the 15 years or so that we have been coming to France for our carp fishing adventures.

Between the pair of us we managed 44 carp to 42lb with another 4 of them going between 32lb and 38lb.06oz. Landed seven cats between 17lb and 56lb. Truly a great week's fishing on a superb venue, see you again next year.

All the best Tim & Lee from Humberside.
